I completed the second week of my embedded systems internship at Eprom Elektronik. This week, instead of working directly on hardware, I focused on the project management and operational processes that run in the background of engineering projects. As an engineering candidate, experiencing not just the code/hardware side but also the management and enterprise operations was highly productive for my vision.

Verification and Validation

I examined how verification and validation steps proceed in parallel during hardware and software development processes. Understanding the distinction between these two critical quality assurance activities is essential for any engineering project.

Project Management Standards

I researched PMI (Project Management Institute) standards and the PMP (Project Management Professional) approach. I studied how the project lifecycle stages—initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing—are implemented in corporate structures.

Agile and Scrum

I focused on Agile methodologies and Scrum practices, studying sprints, daily stand-up meetings, backlog management, and Scrum roles (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Team). I evaluated how these are integrated into embedded/software projects.

Enterprise Tools

I gained hands-on experience with corporate tools:

  • Redmine: An open-source project management and issue/bug tracking interface. I observed task creation, effort tracking, and work distribution processes.
  • Netsis: An ERP interface. I learned how stock, materials, warehouse, and corporate operational data are managed on the system.

I also practiced document scanning, digital archiving, filing standards, and systematic data recording. For product and component tracking, I implemented barcode reading, label printing, and physical label application, and learned how these integrate with database/system records.
